Time For Refreshments

Summer has come, and as the heat intensifies, so do the lines in every Starbucks. People have been continuously ordering iced drinks, as the heat plus a hot espresso does not bode well for summer. Because of this sudden demand for cold drinks, all Starbucks have been releasing new iced drinks that have quickly risen to popularity among customers. Because of this increase in popularity, I wanted to share some of the usual summer drinks and introduce the new ones that have come into style. 1. Iced Passion Tea Lemonade Sweetened: An all time favorite of mine, this drink is comprised of hibiscus and other tropical flavors, slightly sweetened, and served over ice. This drink is one of the more popular summer drinks, and upon the first sip, the fruity flavor makes the customer want more and more. 2. Iced Caramel Macchiato: A blend of milk, vanilla-flavored syrup, shots of espresso, and topped off with lots of caramel sauce, this drink is perfect for coffee lovers. It is bitter...

22 Jump Street

I just got back from seeing the movie 22 Jump Street with one of my friends, and lets just be honest, it was even better than the first movie, 21 Jump Street . The movie was hilarious from the start, and for the entire hour and 49 minutes, I was laughing nonstop with everyone else in the theater. The first movie, 21 Jump Street , features Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum), who are cops that go back to high school disguised as high school students. Once in school, their job is to seek out the dealer of a drug that has been spreading around the school. This second movie, 22 Jump Street  is basically the same plot, except Jenko and Schmidt go to college. But once in college, they both realize that they are going their separate ways, which makes them question their partnership. When the movie was starting, my friend whispered to me that this movie was "even better than the first one" which raised my expectations as the first scene approached. But the movie met...

Nativity Carnival

Do you enjoy rides, games and activities? Is interacting with others and being in crowded places your thing? Are you that type of person who isn't afraid to let out a scream filled with happiness? If so, then the Nativity Carnival is the place to be. This year was the 34th annual holding of the Nativity Carnival at Nativity School in Menlo Park. The carnival is always held at the beginning of June; this year it was open from June 6-8. Many people believe the carnival is just a place with rides, but the carnival actually has rides, game booths, a food court, and live entertainment. The carnival always has a consistent crowd of people waiting in line to buy tickets, or going on rides each day it is open. I have been to the carnival a few times, and it never fails to make me happy; I have gone on probably all of the rides with the exception of a few that I am terrified of, and they are all fantastic. The carnival is a place to interact with others or just go with friends, and you ...

The Fault in Our Stars

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once." - John Green I just saw the most heartbreaking movie.... The Fault in Our Stars. Not only was it a comedy but it was a tearjerker too; by the end of the movie, everyone, and I mean everyone , was either blowing their noses in tissues or had their hands covering their mouths in an attempt to stop themselves from sobbing out loud.    Personally, I went into this movie having read the book twice, and I will admit, I had really high expectations for this movie, believing that the movie would never be able to live up to the high quality of the novel. I had heard from many sources that the movie brought tears to people's eyes and that it was a love story that will leave the audience in tears, but I never believed all that until now. I am typing this post an hour after finishing the movie, and I will say, I was crying alongside all the other audience members by the time the credits rolled around. The n...

Chantilly Lace - A Gem

Chantilly, one of the mares at my old barn, has had a constant struggle with an infection in her right eye, and had it removed in order to sustain her health. She was one of my favorite mares to ride, and she was always the sweetest, both on the ground and jumping.  It started out as an infection in her right eye, which led to the grooms having her wear a fly mask 24/7, even when ridden. They always kept a constant check up on her eye, and when I rode her weekly I made sure her eye hadn't grown worse before or after I had ridden her. During this period I continued riding Tilly in jumping lessons and she was perfect, except for the occasional spook.  Recently her eye continued to worsen and she started to freak out at the sight of her own shadow or when tapped with the crop, leading to her having a surgery to get it permanently removed. After the surgery she was given time to recover, and she was again checked up on daily to make sure everything was healing properly. Today,...
