A Change In Lifestyle

"Let food be thy medicine, thy medicine shall be thy food." - Hippocrates  I ate unhealthily for about 17 years of my life, and now when I think about all the decisions I have made food wise, I shudder at the thought of the foods I have chosen to consume in the past. Due to my sweet tooth I ate loads of candy and sweets, had ice cream, varieties of crackers, loads of dairy, lots of fruit, and little vegetables. Due to this combined with my lack of exercise, I had acne all over my t-zone (forehead, nose, under nose, and chin) along with feeling tired and sluggish. I never really let this affect me until later on in high school. I still ate unhealthily from my freshman through junior year of high school; I strictly remember my mom putting me on what she called the "salmon diet" where I had poached salmon for a few days along with cantaloupe, water, and avoided processed foods and sugars like candy and muffins. Now although my face cleared up, I was still against t...

A Day In The Life

A day in the life of a senior in high school? Well, there's not much to tell. 6:10 a.m. - My phone's alarm rings to wake me up. Yes I know 6:10 is really early, but I have a system. The alarm rings, and I automatically hit the snooze button. 10 minutes later ... 6:20 a.m. - My alarm rings for the second time, and I hit snooze for the second time. 10 minutes later... 6:30 a.m. - Alarm rings again, and I turn it off for the third time, then lay in bed for five minutes. Then I reluctantly drag myself out of bed. 6:35 a.m. - I go into the bathroom and wash my face, moisturize, and listen to music while putting makeup on. 6:45 a.m. - I walk back into my room and change into my outfit for the day. 6:55 a.m. to 7:40 a.m. - I go into the kitchen and make breakfast (usually oatmeal with chia seeds, walnuts, and blueberries, and eggs on the side). While eating breakfast I study, finish homework, or watch a TV show. 7:40 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. - I clean up my dishes, pack my ...

Grammys 2015

The Grammys were on last night, and needless to say, they were AMAZING.  I really don't think there is any other word that can triumph amazing; the show was fantastic. The performers were amazing, the artists that won each award clearly deserved them, and it was a fantastic show overall. Although I only watched the show for 2 hours I got to see all of my favorite artists perform, like Ed Sheeran, Adam Levine singing a duet with Gwen Stefani, Hozier, ACDC, Ariana Grande, among many more. And besides seeing these amazing artists perform I got to see one of my favorite artists, Sam Smith, win two Grammys! That was just incredible to see. In the two hours I watched my favorite moments were definitely the performances, as Ed Sheeran killed it on stage as usual, Ariana Grande sang an angelic version of her song Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart , and Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani sang a lovely duet of a Maroon 5 song that left me with my mouth open in awe. The song they sang, My He...

Favorite TV Shows Update

I have been doing a few posts on my favorite TV shows, as I am constantly finding new ones to watch along with old shows that pop up in my viewing browser and catch my eye. Because I have recently discovered TV shows and have started watching them, I just wanted to discuss the plot of the shows and why I love them so much. 1. HTGAWM - HTGAWM, or How To Get Away With Murder, is one of my new favorite TV shows as of 2014. It is a drama series featuring Annalise Keating (Viola Davis), who plays a law professor who calls her class, How To Get Away With Murder. This show would seem pretty normal, however it has a twist: each of the few students studying under her wing have their own secrets, and Mrs. Keating has her own too. And when Mrs. Keating and the students become involved in a murder case, they have to put their skills to the test, which changes the way they see their lives and future. 2. Parks and Recreation - Parks and Rec is a comedy TV show. Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), who...
