Makeup Haul

I have been buying new makeup products from different stores, and wanted to write a blog post focusing on those products I have been purchasing and trying out. You know how a lot of people do makeup hauls on YouTube? I'm going to be doing that, but in blog post form. Here we go!

1. Professional All In One CoverGirl mascara - After I tried out a variety of different makeup brands to find a good mascara I turned to CoverGirl where I discovered this mascara. I instantly fell in love with this tube. Because my eyelashes are hard to curl I buy this specific mascara with the curved brush, which I found really helps curl my lashes. I first started getting the color very black, but I recently got the black/brown color and am loving it. The black/brown color gives a more natural look, however I love both colors and will continue loving this mascara well into 2015 and beyond! I get this mascara from Walgreens, where it is sold for $5.99.

2. LashBlast Volume CoverGirl mascara - When I first started using this mascara I used the waterproof one and actually used it on top of my Professional All In One CoverGirl mascara to keep my lashes curled all day. Now I don't use this mascara as much, but I like having this tube as an option to just put on my lashes instead of constantly using my other tube of mascara. I recently ran out of this mascara and will get more but in the non-waterproof version, as I find the waterproof version hard to remove without rubbing my eye with makeup remover and pulling at my lashes. I get the very black color in this tube and love it so much. It took me a while to get used to the large brush, but once I got the hang of it I found the mascara pretty easy to apply. This mascara is also sold at Walgreens or any local drugstore, where it is $8.79.

3. Bare Minerals Correcting Concealer - I use this specific concealer only under my eyes to cover dark circles. I find that if I don't get enough sleep or am sick or whatnot, this concealer is perfect for putting underneath my eye. It covers my dark circles perfectly and makes my complexion look instantly brighter. I also use my finger to apply this, as I used to use a brush but found that my finger gave it a more natural look and was easier to apply if I am in a rush. I get this in the color medium 2. I do get this from Sephora so it is a bit pricey, at $20.

4. Clinique Long Last Glosswear - I was looking for a nice natural lip gloss that would last throughout the day, and found Clinique lip gloss when I was walking around Sephora browsing the aisles. The idea that it had the words "long last" in the title drew me to it, and the color Air Kiss was this beautiful light pink color that caught my eye, so I picked it up and bought it. This lip gloss is perfect for a day out shopping or when on a date, looks great, and is true to its name: it lasts a long time! It is a very sticky gloss and I am not a huge fan of sticky glosses, but I find that the stickiness isn't a huge problem for me as it is a great lip gloss that lasts all day. This lip gloss was $16 from Sephora.

5. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer - I went into Sephora looking for a new concealer to try out, as I loved my Bare Minerals one but wanted one that could cover the blemishes and redness on my face, as I liked using the Bare Minerals concealer only for underneath my eyes. I found the brand Tarte, which I have heard great reviews about, and I found a nice concealer that came in a stick version. I fell in love with the fact it was in a stick, as I didn't have to use a brush then; I could use the stick to dot concealer onto my problem areas and blend it in with my fingers. I purchased the light-medium honey color and when I put it on for the first time I instantly fell in love with it. The smallest amount covers my redness and blemishes and it lasts all day, even holding up with my oily skin, and my oily skin can be hard to handle sometimes with my makeup. The concealer was $22, but it was so worth it as it is the concealer I always find myself turning to whenever I need coverage on my face.

Getting Through Finals Week

As winter break is approaching and finals week is coming up, many students are stressed about how to study in order to perform successfully on their tests. Here are some tips on how to be calm, well rested, and ready for finals week. 1. Use Quizlet  - I started using Quizlet my junior year of high school, and I have used it ever since. I am now a freshman in college and I still use Quizlet for my classes. Quizlet is amazing; if you have a lot of terms you need to memorize, Quizlet is the perfect online website that will help you study those terms. Once you write in the terms and their definitions, there are a variety of options you can choose in order to study the terms, including a test, flashcards, etc. 2. Get lots of rest - Don't stay out late when you know you have a final the next day. Getting a lot of rest is beneficial if you want to perform well on a test. It does sound lame to go to sleep really early, but if you do so, your body will thank you. By going to sleep early...

Spicy Veggie Bean Chili

Since moving from my old house with a tiny, cramped kitchen to my new house with a large, open kitchen with an island, I have been meal prepping, cooking, and baking a lot more. With this, I have been keen to try new recipes! I do eat meat, but most of the time I tend to cook vegetarian and vegan meals. This vegetarian chili recipe was one that I came across while browsing for a good, hearty chili recipe, and it is so delicious I had to share it with all of you. I did not come up with this recipe myself. The lovely Shannon, with her blog "The Glowing Fridge," posted this recipe. Her website is amazing, and I highly recommend you check it out. (Also, if you are interested in more plant based recipes, take a look at Shannon's website here: https://www.theglowingfridge.com ) Ingredients: 1/3 cup vegetable broth (or 1 tbsp olive oil) - for sautéing 1 onion, diced 1/4 of a finely diced jalapeño (optional) 3 minced cloves of garlic 1 bell pepper of any color, diced 1 ...
