My 2016 Night Routine

I recently made a post called "My Morning Routine, March 2016" that is about what the title says, my morning routine in college. After creating and posting that post, I felt that the whole routine posting was incomplete since there wasn't a post yet about my night routine as well. So, here it is! My 2016 night routine in college!

I typically tend to wash my face before starting all of my homework. Since I typically do my homework at night, I usually wash my face after I eat dinner at the dining hall. After I get back to my dorm room, I go to the bathroom to wash my hands, then take my makeup off in my room. To remove my makeup I use the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, and then after that, go over my face one more time with the liquid Neutrogena makeup remover and a cotton face pad. I find that using both together makes my face pretty oily after I remove all of my makeup, but I deal with the oiliness because I wash my face immediately after removing my makeup.

After removing all of my makeup I take my toiletries bag (a bag filled with toothpaste, face wash, floss, moisturizer, makeup remover, etc.) and a face towel to the bathroom, and wash my face. I only do this if I am not showering at night that day. If I did shower at night, I would remove my makeup, then put only my face wash into my shower caddy and wash my face in the shower. I use the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Stress Control Power-Cream Wash on my face, and it gets rid of the oiliness from when I removed my makeup as well as taking off any excess makeup residue that I didn't get off when removing my makeup. After washing my face I dry it, then apply toner with a cotton face pad. The toner that I use is the Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner, and I pour a small amount onto a cotton face pad and apply it to my face. I love this toner because it is alcohol free, so it doesn't strip my face of its natural oils. Many other toners have alcohol in it, which will dry out your skin and strip off natural oils when used, so you have to be careful about that. I also don't use toner every night; I only use it a few times a week when I want to refresh my face.

After washing my face and applying toner I am basically done with night routine! Pretty simple right? The rest of my night routine consists of me brushing my teeth, flossing, putting my retainers in that I wear during the night when I sleep, putting chapstick on, and moisturizing my hands before going to sleep, but all of that usually comes later at night, around 10:40 to 11 PM to whenever I go to sleep that night. My night routine as I said before, is fairly simple. Many people use night moisturizers to lock in moisture while they sleep, others wear an invisible face mask that they wash off in the morning, some put a special oil on their face after washing it, among many others. I don't do any of those things; my skin is sensitive and oily, and I prefer to leave it clean and bare when I sleep. However, everyone has a different night routine, and this is mine!

Getting Through Finals Week

As winter break is approaching and finals week is coming up, many students are stressed about how to study in order to perform successfully on their tests. Here are some tips on how to be calm, well rested, and ready for finals week. 1. Use Quizlet  - I started using Quizlet my junior year of high school, and I have used it ever since. I am now a freshman in college and I still use Quizlet for my classes. Quizlet is amazing; if you have a lot of terms you need to memorize, Quizlet is the perfect online website that will help you study those terms. Once you write in the terms and their definitions, there are a variety of options you can choose in order to study the terms, including a test, flashcards, etc. 2. Get lots of rest - Don't stay out late when you know you have a final the next day. Getting a lot of rest is beneficial if you want to perform well on a test. It does sound lame to go to sleep really early, but if you do so, your body will thank you. By going to sleep early...

Spicy Veggie Bean Chili

Since moving from my old house with a tiny, cramped kitchen to my new house with a large, open kitchen with an island, I have been meal prepping, cooking, and baking a lot more. With this, I have been keen to try new recipes! I do eat meat, but most of the time I tend to cook vegetarian and vegan meals. This vegetarian chili recipe was one that I came across while browsing for a good, hearty chili recipe, and it is so delicious I had to share it with all of you. I did not come up with this recipe myself. The lovely Shannon, with her blog "The Glowing Fridge," posted this recipe. Her website is amazing, and I highly recommend you check it out. (Also, if you are interested in more plant based recipes, take a look at Shannon's website here: https://www.theglowingfridge.com ) Ingredients: 1/3 cup vegetable broth (or 1 tbsp olive oil) - for sautéing 1 onion, diced 1/4 of a finely diced jalapeño (optional) 3 minced cloves of garlic 1 bell pepper of any color, diced 1 ...
