College As A Second Year Student

I have just started the fall quarter of my second year of college, and it feels great to be back. I moved in on the 17th, and since classes didn't start until the 22nd, we had a lot of time to catch up with friends, go downtown, get textbooks, and just relax. Since freshman use that free time as an orientation week, they are always busy. However, since I am now a sophomore, I had that entire week free, which quickly led to boredom and anxiety as the start of classes grew closer. However, now that I have just completed my first week of classes, I wanted to write a blog post about how life has been as a second year college student, and how I see this quarter and the rest of the year going for me. First off, I was super excited to start my classes. This quarter I am taking an upper division course for my major, as well as GE's and an intro class for a minor I am interested in. The first day of classes is always syllabus day; the professors go over the syllabus, tell you how exci...

Stepping Out Into The World

For the majority of the time that I have been alive, I have always stayed inside my comfort zone. I just felt comfortable there, and I wasn't one who wanted to try branching outside of my comfort zone and fail or make a fool out of myself, which would make then make me feel terrible and retreat back into the familiarity of my comfort zone. There are so many shy girls and boys like me out there in the world today. And when we are shy, we tend to stay in our comfort zones, which therefore leads to not socializing with others, keeping to ourselves, and being really quiet overall. However, this summer I decided to make a change in my own life. This change was to be more outgoing and social. This summer I decided to try new things; hence, I wanted to become more social, have new experiences, and overall put myself out of my comfort zone. In high school I was never one to go out to a lot of social events, and instead I preferred to stay inside and watch Netflix or read a book. But this...

Motivating Yourself

All throughout high school, I was never one to exercise daily. I was lazy, a procrastinator, and overall a person who thought exercise was worthless and a waste of my time. My senior year of high school I started going on runs after I got home from school, and I stayed hydrated by drinking cucumber or fruit infused water. However, that phase didn't last long. After I graduated, I abandoned exercising at all; I had a summer job, was hanging out with friends, and was busy all the time. I was also eating very unhealthily, which when accompanied with no exercise, is not healthy for my body. However, I knew that I was making a mistake by not exercising, so when I went to college, I made a vow to make a change. My college has a wonderful gym and track that both offer stunning views of the city and ocean. There is also a large swimming pool, which I have not utilized yet, but definitely will soon. Despite the vow I made to myself before going off to school, my fall quarter at college I ...

5 Seconds of Summer Concert 2016

I wrote a post in July 2015 about going to the 5 Seconds of Summer concert at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, and I remember very clearly how I went on and on about how great the boys sounded vocally and how it was the best night of my life. Well.... I went to see 5 Seconds of Summer again in concert last night (September 2, 2016), and to be honest, the concert last night was even better than the one from last year. My friend and I got to the venue at 5:40 pm and waited in line for doors to open. Doors opened around 6:30 pm, and we got into the venue around 7 pm. We grabbed food and found our seats, which were Section 103 Row Q, seats 9 and 10. The seats were incredible; we had a great view of the stage and got to actually see the boys, compared to the 2015 Rock Out With Your Socks Out tour where we were on the lawn. My view from my seat from the concert yesterday also gave me the perfect view of Luke (my favorite member of the band). The opening acts were amazing; Roy English was firs...
