Catching Fire

Catching Fire Takes Theaters By Storm

Have any of you seen The Hunger Game's second movie Catching Fire? If any of you went to the premiere or the midnight showing, props to you! I still have yet to go myself, as I am waiting for the long lines to die down so the theaters won't be as crazy with die-hard fans and parents who were dragged along to pay for the tickets and movie theater popcorn. But here are some interesting stats about Catching Fire that have raised since the movie was aired in theaters on November 22, 2013.

Stats:
  • Paul Dergarabedian, an analyst for the box office tracking firm Rentrak, believes Catching Fire may be placed in the top movies of all time category, which includes: Lord of the Rings, all the Harry Potter movies, the Twilight Saga, etc.
  • Catching Fire is supposedly going to surpass The Hunger Games by a huge difference in the amount of money it has earned
      • The Hunger Games: earned about $700 million worldwide
      • Catching Fire earned $25.3 million on the opening day and is still increasing
  • The first film got an 84% positive critical review, while Catching Fire is already at a 94%
  • There is a love triangle between 3 characters that revolves around lust, romance, and betrayal
  • There are many new characters introduced that fight in the 75th annual Hunger Games with Katniss and Peeta.
Now you may be thinking, what team am I on? Or what team are your peers on? I would like to say what team I am supporting, but I do not want to upset any of my readers who disagree with me, so I will claim that I am unbiased. But what team are you guys on? Team Peeta? Gale? Katniss? And are you supportive of the romance budding between Peeta and Katniss?

I am stoked to go and see this movie soon. I'm positive it will live up to my expectations as it has for everyone else's, and it will be just as great as the first movie was. Although my favorite character had an unfortunate death in the first movie (hint hint, Cato, eaten by the wolves/dogs) I am sure I will love all the new characters introduced in Catching Fire.

If you haven't seen the movie, people are highly recommending it, so go out and see it in your local theater soon!

Book Recommendations

I am a huge book worm and try to read whenever I have time, which is usually late at night before I go to bed, on weekends, or on breaks. I recently found that I was short on books to read, which led me to research on Google novels that would appeal to me. Because I am a sucker for romance movies, I mainly looked for that genre of novels. I recently got a few novels in the mail along with a few that a friend let me borrow, and I want to share them with you. 1. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green - I have read this book around three or four times, and it is still my favorite novel. It is a story about two teenagers who do have cancer, but it focuses more on the blossoming love story between them and how their world changes because of that as they also go through ups and downs due to their illnesses. It is a great read anywhere and anytime, and will always make you tear up by the end. 2. Let It Snow - This novel consists of three holiday stories written by John Green, Maure...

Dairy-free Banana Bread

From the end of 2019 to now, I have been really into baking breads. Out of the ones I have made, making banana bread and pumpkin walnut bread have been my top favorites. One of the first banana breads that I made was utterly delicious! However, because I like to share my baked goods with others, particularly my boyfriend, I went on the hunt for a dairy free recipe. My boyfriend is lactose intolerant, and I wanted to bake something that both he and I could enjoy. So, upon coming upon this recipe during my search online, I made a loaf last night and it was so delicious I had to share it on the blog. Here is the recipe! Photo from Google Images Ingredients: 4 very ripe bananas 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup dark brown sugar 1/2 cup canola oil or coconut oil 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda 2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp sea salt Steps: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a standard size loaf pan (I use olive ...
