Thanksgiving

Time of Giving

Thanksgiving. It's the time of giving. It's a holiday that people love, as family comes from far and near to celebrate together and eat delicious foods and desserts. As a non vegetarian I love my turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie covered in whipped cream. Because we are only 5 days away from Thanksgiving, I wanted to share with you all a pumpkin pie recipe that I love to make during the holidays.

Recipe:

This pie will warm everyone's hearts
Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin
  • 1 can Nestle Carnation Evaporate Milk
  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  • Whipped Cream (not necessary)
(An alternative to the ground cinnamon, ginger, and cloves is to use a pumpkin spice herb mix, which contains all three of these ingredients in it)

Procedures:
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2.  Combine the sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and cloves in a bowl and mix them together with a whisk.
  3. Beat the eggs in a large bowl. Once beaten, stir in the can of pumpkin, mix that together, then add in the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  4. Once that is stirred, open the can of evaporated milk a little bit, not all the way. Slowly stir in the milk until the whole can is used up.
  5. Place your pie shell into your baking tray, and pour your filling into the pie shell.
  6. Place your tray into the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  7. After the 15 minutes, keeping your pie in the oven, reduce the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and bake the pie for 40 to 50 minutes, checking occasionally to make sure the pie isn't overcooking. You will know the pie is cooked if you insert a knife into the filling and it comes out clean without any of the pumpkin filling on it.
  8. Let the pie cool once out of the oven for 2 hours.
  9. Once cool, serve with whipped cream, or refrigerate.

I hope you guys enjoy this recipe and are using it to bake your own pumpkin pies this year, or are purchasing one from a bakery or local grocery store. I am wishing you all a great Thanksgiving, and I will be posting soon with Christmas themed recipes!

Book Recommendations

I am a huge book worm and try to read whenever I have time, which is usually late at night before I go to bed, on weekends, or on breaks. I recently found that I was short on books to read, which led me to research on Google novels that would appeal to me. Because I am a sucker for romance movies, I mainly looked for that genre of novels. I recently got a few novels in the mail along with a few that a friend let me borrow, and I want to share them with you. 1. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green - I have read this book around three or four times, and it is still my favorite novel. It is a story about two teenagers who do have cancer, but it focuses more on the blossoming love story between them and how their world changes because of that as they also go through ups and downs due to their illnesses. It is a great read anywhere and anytime, and will always make you tear up by the end. 2. Let It Snow - This novel consists of three holiday stories written by John Green, Maure...

Dairy-free Banana Bread

From the end of 2019 to now, I have been really into baking breads. Out of the ones I have made, making banana bread and pumpkin walnut bread have been my top favorites. One of the first banana breads that I made was utterly delicious! However, because I like to share my baked goods with others, particularly my boyfriend, I went on the hunt for a dairy free recipe. My boyfriend is lactose intolerant, and I wanted to bake something that both he and I could enjoy. So, upon coming upon this recipe during my search online, I made a loaf last night and it was so delicious I had to share it on the blog. Here is the recipe! Photo from Google Images Ingredients: 4 very ripe bananas 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup dark brown sugar 1/2 cup canola oil or coconut oil 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda 2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp sea salt Steps: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a standard size loaf pan (I use olive ...
