Elsa... Do you want to build a snowman?
Come on lets go and play,
I never see you anymore
Come out the door
It's like you've gone away-
These are the lyrics to one of the most popular movies, Frozen. From the moment the movie was released in theaters lines upon lines of people were waiting outside, all anxious to see what the movie had in store for them. As I went to the theaters not to see that movie but another I eyed the lines suspiciously as I walked by, as I had never seen so many anxious fans with the exception of all the Twilight films. After hearing Frozen become the talk at school, I decided to watch the movie myself to see what made it so intriguing for people of all ages.
As I sat down, all ready to watch this movie with my parents, I wasn't expecting much. I knew the basic plot, sister has special powers, the younger sister is shut out of her world, there's a snowman, etc. But once I got deeper in the movie everything clicked; the film was adorable! Not in the super cheesy I wanna squeeze your little chubby cheeks adorable, but adorable as in how the film was not over the top, the characters were relatable, and the plot was so intriguing, yet complex at the same time.
I knew the famous song Let It Go was featured, but I somewhat enjoyed the Do You Wanna Build A Snowman song too. But for me, the most prominent figure was Olaf. Just his name makes me smile. Olaf. He was the best part of the movie. The snowman that became real because of Elsa. Although Olaf appeared later in the movie his moments were precious and can never be recreated.
He was both hilarious and willing to put others before him, which made him my favorite characters. Even my mom was chuckling alongside me during those scenes, which showed me that even adults enjoy kids movies once in a while.
As the credits rolled my mouth had dropped open; the movie was so much better than I had let it on to be. I hadn't allowed myself to watch any kids movies except for Tangled and my favorite movie of all time, Finding Nemo, but Frozen was so worth it. The characters were so relatable, and I really felt what they were feeling. My heart broke when something tragic happened between the characters, and I laughed alongside my parents at Olaf's strange yet comical remarks.
The fact that I, a teenager, and my parents were able to enjoy such a movie shows that it reaches out to people of all ages, not just kids. This movie was so much better than I had originally thought, which made me realize that I should not have judged it simply by the fact that I thought it was cheesy. This movie is great, and I think that no one should fall into my judging tactic. The movie was fantastic, and if you guys haven't seen it and want to, do it. Don't do anything to procrastinate because this film is worth every penny.
