The Fault in Our Stars

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once." - John Green

I just saw the most heartbreaking movie.... The Fault in Our Stars. Not only was it a comedy but it was a tearjerker too; by the end of the movie, everyone, and I mean everyone, was either blowing their noses in tissues or had their hands covering their mouths in an attempt to stop themselves from sobbing out loud.

Personally, I went into this movie having read the book twice, and I will admit, I had really high expectations for this movie, believing that the movie would never be able to live up to the high quality of the novel. I had heard from many sources that the movie brought tears to people's eyes and that it was a love story that will leave the audience in tears, but I never believed all that until now. I am typing this post an hour after finishing the movie, and I will say, I was crying alongside all the other audience members by the time the credits rolled around. The novel did provoke tears for me, but I did not think I would actually cry in the movie, well not until now.

First of all, let me just say that this movie was rated 4.5 stars out of 5, which is super rare, as many movies do not get rated nearly as high. And although this movie is based on two teenagers who have cancer, the director and author of the novel have been able to shape it into a budding romance between the two protagonists, and the readers are able to follow them on their journey to love, heartbreak, and the aftermath that follows. Ansel Elgort who plays Augustus Waters, and Shailene Woodley who plays Hazel Grace Lancaster, portrayed their characters beautifully, and the chemistry and love their characters had for each other in the movie was evident, provoking tears from everyone in the audience.

I have to say that reading the book before seeing the movie is so much better, as you will then have an idea of what to expect instead of having everyone be a surprise. This movie was so much better than I had anticipated, and it is now my favorite movie. The love that blossoms between the two characters sweeps them off into a journey together, as they experience what it's like to really live and fall in love with someone all at once, even without knowing how many days they could have left in their lives.

Book Recommendations

I am a huge book worm and try to read whenever I have time, which is usually late at night before I go to bed, on weekends, or on breaks. I recently found that I was short on books to read, which led me to research on Google novels that would appeal to me. Because I am a sucker for romance movies, I mainly looked for that genre of novels. I recently got a few novels in the mail along with a few that a friend let me borrow, and I want to share them with you. 1. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green - I have read this book around three or four times, and it is still my favorite novel. It is a story about two teenagers who do have cancer, but it focuses more on the blossoming love story between them and how their world changes because of that as they also go through ups and downs due to their illnesses. It is a great read anywhere and anytime, and will always make you tear up by the end. 2. Let It Snow - This novel consists of three holiday stories written by John Green, Maure...

Dairy-free Banana Bread

From the end of 2019 to now, I have been really into baking breads. Out of the ones I have made, making banana bread and pumpkin walnut bread have been my top favorites. One of the first banana breads that I made was utterly delicious! However, because I like to share my baked goods with others, particularly my boyfriend, I went on the hunt for a dairy free recipe. My boyfriend is lactose intolerant, and I wanted to bake something that both he and I could enjoy. So, upon coming upon this recipe during my search online, I made a loaf last night and it was so delicious I had to share it on the blog. Here is the recipe! Photo from Google Images Ingredients: 4 very ripe bananas 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup dark brown sugar 1/2 cup canola oil or coconut oil 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda 2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tsp sea salt Steps: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
